Well, Kenny Chesney just scored some points in the DirtySouthMouth Book of Credibility. Dude covers Dwight Yoakam's "Wild Ride" on his upcoming album, Poets & Pirates: Just Who I Am, due out on September 11.

Bonus points for landing Joe Walsh on guitar for the track.

This is certainly the best day to get results by googling "Dwight Yoakam covers," as Dwight announced today that he'd be doing some Buck Owens songs.

Also, check out this story from Mr. Chesney:

Dwight came by the hotel. We sat in the parking lot in his car and just listened. It was like high school -- getting in somebody's car to check out some song you're totally into. Only it was his song -- and he liked it.

For the record, I'd pay large sums of money for this experience.

The first single from Chesney's new album, "Never Wanted Nothing More," is out now.
