Well this is an unexpected turn of events in the Kanye vs. 50 Cent battle. As you are probably well aware, the two have been hurling thoughts, questions and comments at one another in competition for the top spot on The Billboard 200 - which they will both be vying for come September 11.
What you might not know is that Kenny Chesney wants a piece of the action. He'll release Just Who I Am: Poets and Pirates on the same day, where he hopes to take down both rappers.
"It's funny how with every record that comes out, we're aware of the urban [competition], and none of those acts acknowledge that I exist ... until I have that No. 1 debut on the top 200," Chesney said.
If Kenny lands the top spot, it will be his fifth studio album in a row to debut at No. 1. In other words, dudes should probably stop running their mouths, lest they be felled by the one of country music's giants. I assume that would pack a bit of a sting in the rap community.
As for Just Who I Am, the album includes a Dwight Yoakam cover and Chesney's latest single, "Never Wanted Nothing More."
