And on the 8th day, God said, "Turn off that damn Clay Aiken album!"

Clay Aiken is scheduled to perform at a Wichita church on November 26th, and it seems that some of the churchgoers are concerned. According to the National Enquirer (via Contact Music), the pastor of the church sent around a letter to parishoners justifying Aiken's performance by saying that the singer is a good Christian who doesn't "drink, smoke, swear or womanize."

I think we all know what's going on here. Since early in his career, Aiken has had to deal with rumors about his sexual orientation. This hit a tipping point in 2006, when a Green Beret claimed to have had an intimate encounter with Aiken, causing many fans to threaten a class-action lawsuit against the singer if it was revealed that he was gay.

(Can you even do that? "Your honor, this guy likes dick, I want my $49.95 plus Ticketmaster surcharge returned immediately!")

What did Clay Aiken do to deserve any of this? Music aside, the worst thing this guy ever did was get beaten up by a girl on an airplane. Maybe he likes dudes, maybe he likes chicks, maybe he's asexual and reproduces by budding. Does it matter? They're not hanging out with the guy; they're just listening to his music. I'm against child molestation, but I still think Michael Jackson had some good tunes.
