Josh Turner, unlike most of the current crop of country stars, says one of his main goals is to turn people out on traditional country music. He realized he was reaching in the right direction when he was talking to his guitar player about the recently double platinum Your Man.
"It was funny. When my guitar player in my band heard the record all the way through for the first time, he called me up and said, 'This thing kicks butt. There's just a funk to it. It's just got a lot of energy,' and he said, 'There's not a boring moment on the record, even with the ballads,'" Turner said.
Turner said it felt good to hear someone who didn't have much exposure to trad-country say something like that about his album. Hey, you know, most of his stuff is better than your average John Rich-penned tune, but the torch bearer for trad-country, I don't know.
Also, here's Turner talking about his single, "Me and God."
