If you had any worries about Starbucks acting as the future of music, let me quell them for you. The company is making it very clear with their Hear Music label, that they only want a piece of the past.

After having signed Paul McCartney earlier this year and with rumors spinning that they are talking to Prince, now comes word that the label might be looking at Joni Mitchell.

Although the label's actual next signing won't be announced for a few more weeks, Matt Talbot from Music Week got some of the low down. He says the label's CEO, Ken Lombard, told him that the artist is "one of the all-time great female artists." Fergie, where you at?

Anyway, I guess that means they're not talking about Prince, but it doesn't mean they are definitely talking about Joni Mitchell either.

Apparently the only real tip that it might be Mitchell is their previous collaborations. She put together a 2005 compilation for their "Artist's Choice" series and later did a "Selected Songs" comp.

So let's have a vote. Who would you rather see on Hear Music, Prince or Joni Mitchell?
