John Mellencamp plans to keep his mouth shut at a televised concert for troops coming up on April 27, like, aside from singing. Although Mellencamp has been a vocal opponet of the Iraq War, he will perform at the concert for 300 patients at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
"I'm not entering any political realm. That's not what this is about," Mellencamp said.
Although he originally didn't want to play the show because of the Walter Reed scandal, he said he finally realized the concert was simply to "lighten the load" for the soldiers and hospital workers.
"I don't pretend to understand decisions the government makes. I'm sure in light of the circumstances, their first inclination would have been to say no. But they want to give their patients something special," Mellencamp said of the concert event.
Awww, the cougar has a big heart, y'all.
