The Associated Press reports that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have decided to take legal action against the National Enquirer for a March 12th story run in the publication. The story in question accused the couple of being involved in a "heroin scandal" and quoted an unnamed "friend." The National Enquirer's story originated from an alleged friendship between Marc Anthony and photogapher Michael Star, who was recently charged with possession of heroin and child pornography. That guy sounds like a one-man party.

Due to American freedom of speech laws, the National Enquirer is protected from a libel case in the U.S. However, because this story ran in the British and Irish versions of the Enquirer, J. Lo and Anthony were able to file lawsuits overseas. So, kids, remember this: if you want to randomly accuse someone of being involved with a heroin and child porn scandal, make sure your publication runs exclusively in America.

Is it just me, or should Marc Anthony roll with these allegations? I mean, obviously the child porn is horrible, but I don't think he should deny the heroin stuff. Right now, the guy is basically a glorified boy band member. But if this heroin stuff gets out, all of a sudden he's a modern day Scarface. "You go straight to da top, Marc!!!"
