In a new interview, Jay-Z has admitted that he regrets his 5-minute retirement.

After 2003's Black Album, Jay announced that he would be retiring from rap, only to come back in 2006 with a new record, a mediocre song with an awesome Wreckx-n-Effect sample, and eight million Budweiser commercials.

Jay told XXL Magazine:

I think I pulled the retirement ripcord too many times. People looking at me like, 'Please shut up.' I was looking at (his retirement movie) 'Fade to Black' the other day. I was embarrassed.

In the interview, Jay also spoke about Lil Wayne. After Jay's retirement, Wayne declared himself the "greatest rapper alive."

Said Jay:

I think Lil Wayne is extremely talented. But do I think me and Lil Wayne should be in the same sentence? Me? No. I mean, hopefully one day. He has to accumulate work. Put some classics under his belt.

That's funny. Unless you're talking about a weed-smoking competition, Jay-Z beats Lil Wayne hands down. The man is a legend (not to mention an excellent insulter). Lil Wayne is still up-and-coming. He's young, though, so he'll have plenty of time to make hits, fake-retire, sample Skee-Lo and do a bunch of Michelob Ultra ads.
