If Island Records' president of Urban Music, Jermaine Dupri, has anything to do with it, Janet Jackson will soon be signed to his record label. It sure doesn't hurt that Janet is J.D.'s girlfriend.

MTV News talked to Dupri today in regards to the Rush Hour 3 soundtrack, which he recently secured for distribution through Island. He also mentioned the possibility of Janet signing on board, as Island Def Jam chief L.A. Reid has expressed interest:
Definitely Janet will end up at Island. That's without a doubt. L.A. always wanted to sign her regardless [of whether] I was there or not. I don't know where that deal is - I left that in the hands of L.A. and Janet's people - but more than likely, he'll get what he wants.

J.D.'s whole interview, which also shares his plans for the Rush Hour 3 soundtrack, can be read here.

Wait, so does this mean that they're defrosting Chris Tucker from his cryogenically-frozen-in-2000 state?
