Jack Ingram credits his polarizing cover of Hinder's "Lips of an Angel" for his newfound success. But after the song was tested to mixed reviews on an Indianapolis radio station, Ingram started freaking out a bit.
As Ingram says, love it or hate it, the song raised his public profile more than his previous hit singles.
"In some respect, 'Wherever You Are' and 'Love You,' they were cool, but 'Lips' kind of helped push people to go 'Who's that?' 'What's his name?' Because of the polarizing situation, it allowed people to take an interest in me, who I am and why I did that song," Ingram said. Thanks to GAC for the quote.
Ingram defends the song's country-ness by saying "It's a cheating song." Yes Jack, because only country songs are about cheating. Death to all genre clichés.
