Those who love Ben Harper most certainly also love his live performances, frought with soul, grit and incredible talent. It's always nice to see your favorite artists able to pull off a stunning live performance, and Harper has found a way to capitalize on his live vibe.
During the his most recent tour, he coined "Acoustic Soul," which is the term he used to describe his active creativity during his sound checks. He and his band, the Innocent Criminals, were reportedly tired of the same 'ol schtick at sound checks, and decided that they would use the energy of the sound check to pen their new album, titled "Lifeline," due out on August 28th on Virgin.
This tactic proved to be not only a wise use of Harper and the Criminal's creative energy, but as Harper himself put it, "It’s been a lifelong ambition to...get that raw, nasty sort of dazed, lethargic emotional release from the end of a tour on a record."
