If one is to believe the NME -- which I must insist -- is not the wisest idea in the world, a blank cover is both controversial and, even better, "subversive."

One could easily argue that said cover is "lazy," "silly," "stupid," or even better, "just a cover," but because this is the British press, and particularly the NME, it's actually made news.

According to the magazine, the band's front man, Richard Archer said, "We wanted to break the rules."
We don't need some airbrushed band shot just because it might be expected. Fuck that. This is about the music."

Naturally, though, it's worked out to be exactly the opposite, since there are articles being written about the cover art [or lack thereof] rather than the music. Archer noted -- and rightfully -- that most album covers are simply just little squares on iPod screens, when he was questioned about the band's decision.

So what's the big deal?

Who knows?

It's not like Hard-Fi has ever really been known for being pioneers of artwork on their covers, anyway, so....
