Last May, when Michael was found slumped over the steering wheel of his car, he was charged with and convicted of “driving while unfit.” I love how even the worst crimes have lovely names in England – that’s so much more dignified than the USA’s “DUI.”
At least Michael is intelligent – he showed up at the homeless hostel in a chauffer-driven car, as he is banned from driving for two years. People like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan could learn a thing or two from him – though there is something slightly ironic about having a chauffer taking you to work at a homeless hostel.
Anyway, the hostel’s new gardener said, "I'm just like everyone else. If you do something stupid, you have to pay the price. I've been doing some gardening and really enjoyed it. I'll do whatever they want me to do. I don't want any special treatment."
