A suspicious website recently surfaced proclaiming that Eminem will soon be releasing an album named King Mathers.
If you happen to head over to http://www.kingmathers.com, you'll notice a quick advertisement proclaiming the album coming soon before being redirected to what -- according to the Detroit News -- was once a random hip hop fan board, but is now a 404 Not Found error.
Em's hometown paper also contacted his Interscope Records publicist, Dennis Dennehy, who called the website and its claim that the first Eminem studio album in two years is on its way, "bogus." He added, "there is no Eminem album on any release schedule."
The News article, however, leaves plenty of room for speculation about an album still arriving in 2007, such as citing 50 Cent's claims to that effect earlier this year.
That said, am I, as an Internet rap dork, allowed to say that I'm kind of relieved to hear that there's no Em album on the way? First off, King Mathers is an awful name. Second, third and fourth: Em's work on T.I. vs. T.I.P and "Smack That" were scary bad.
Marshall is clearly not in a good place right now.
