Dixie Chicks frontwoman Natalie Maines is about to take a shot at acting. Maines will appear as a prison nurse in the upcoming indie film by Michael Skolnik, Stealing Cars.
Stay tuned for details on DVD burnings to take place immediately after the movie is available on DVD.
Although the movie doesn't have an IMDB listing quite yet, Maines did talk to People Mag about the upcoming role. She says she's gotten a bit of advice from her husband, Adrian Pasdar, who stars in Heroes.
"He's a huge help and very supportive. He has given me advice on auditions in the past, but it still makes me nervous because I'm inexperienced when it comes to acting and he's a professional," Maines said.
She was apparently hired after Skolnik saw her in the Dixie Chicks' documentary, Shut Up and Sing. Maines also said she was very excited to begin, as this is the fulfillment of a goal for her.
"I'm very excited. It's something I've always wanted to do. I've auditioned here and there, but we've always been busy with Dixie Chicks stuff, and with movies you have to be available," Maines said.
Maines added that even though she's excited about the role, she's ashamed that former President Reagan was also an actor. Toby Keith later responded that, "America. Freedom. ARGH!"
Filming for the movie begins soon, but until then, Maines will be hanging with her family, which includes two little ones, Jackson, 6-years-old, and Beckett, 3-years-old.
