You know the crowd was hoping his "special friend" was Pete Doherty -- despite Carl making it clear the Libertines' reunion was a one-off, fans at last night's Dirty Pretty Things gig were treated to an appearance by Tim Burgress of the Charlatans.

According to the NME, the singer took over vocals on "Blood Thirsty Barstards", before the band played The Charlatans' "North Country Boy" and they did a cover of the Rolling Stones' "You Can't Always Get What You Want."

This was Dirty Pretty Things' first gig since the much-publicized performance Carl Barat did with former band mate Pete Doherty in London last week.

According to the NME, the setlist was:

'Tired Of England'
'The Wondering'
'Chinese Dogs'
'Gentry Cove'
'Suits Punks Military'
'Deadwood'
'Doctors And The Dealers'
'Blood Thirsty Barstards'
'North Country Boy' / 'You Can't Always Get What You Want'
'You Fucking Love It'
'Best Face'
'Gin And Milk'
'The Enemy'
'Plastic Hearts'
'I Get Along'
'Come Closer'
'Burma'
'Last Of The Small Time Playboys'
'Bang, Bang You're Dead'

Sounds like an entirely killer show -- probably because Carl has a lot to prove with Dirty Pretty Things -- especially after raising hopes of a full-scale Libertines reunion last week.
