Thanks to the hardasses at The Official UK Charts Company, Dimmu Borgir's new album is unable to chart for two reasons -- the first being a mirror on the cover of the album, and the second, a flyer inside the CD package.

According to Blabbermouth, the band's label manager, Yorck Eysel, said:

This is not funny. I hope that nobody blames us, but rather blames the almost unbelievably strict rules in England.
First they disqualified us because of this mirror, which is nothing but decoration inside the package. We went ahead and complained about this and then we got a note saying that we wouldn't be on the list anyway since the packaging for the CD includes a flyer where we announce a competition for record buyers to win an opportunity to meet the band.

Eysel went on to say they clearly examined the packaging carefully -- and even suggested other bands -- ones expected to chart -- would not be subject to such scrutiny.

You can read the rules of the UK charts here, if you have nothing better to do.

Most recently, Beck faced similar problems due to including a sticker sheet with his album, The Information, as the "make-your-own-cover" gimmick rendered it ineligible.

Nonetheless, Dimmu Borgir has had amazing success with this album -- and this can only help them. They may not be on the charts, but they're now the band everyone is talking about because they should have been on the charts.
