Chicago native Common scored the first number one of his career Wednesday when his seventh album, Finding Forever, debuted atop the Billboard 200. The rapper de-throned 2-week champion Now 25.

Finding Forever, the second straight collaboration between Common and producer Kanye West, sold 155,000 copies. It follows the 2005 album, Be, which debuted at number two (with 185,000 copies sold the first week) and went on to become the best-selling album of the rapper's career (so far, as the newest release could very well surpass the 2005 release).

What is amazing is that Common's latest success comes without benefit of a major hit single, which is a rarity in the music business these days.
