Clay Aiken is going to star in the Broadway play Spamalot. The "American Idol" runner-up will play the lead role of Sir Robin, which was originally played by David Hyde Pierce (a.k.a., that guy from "Frasier"). Aiken's run with the production will begin on January 18th and go through May 4th.

Aiken will join Jennifer Hudson and Tamyra Gray as ex-"Idol" contestants who have transitioned into musicals. Hudson stars in The Color Purple and Gray has a role in Rent.

Spamalot director Mike Nichols says of Aiken:

Clay Aiken is amazing beyond that glorious voice. Turns out he is an excellent comic actor and a master of character. People will be surprised by his wide-ranging talent.

Clay Aiken responded:

Dude, how many times do I have to say it? I'm not gay. Please stop hitting on me.
