Many musicians have had their MySpace sites hacked in the recent past, and Chris Cornell is no exception. Turns out impersonator(s) hacked into Cornell's site and talked with fans under Cornell's identity.
On Monday, Cornell wrote a message to fans, letting them know that they had been deceived. In fact, Cornell took things a step further and said -- possibly unintentionally -- that he had never communicated with anyone, ever.
Said Cornell:
Hello this is Chris Cornell.
Over the past several months, several incidents have taken place where others felt the need to engage in activities pretending to be me. I have been wanting to make a clear statement to fans, friends and anyone this may concern; under no circumstances, under any name or address do I or have I ever communicated or corresponded with anyone online or otherwise.
I also wish to apologize to the fans in Denver and Salt Lake City for the postponed shows. This was due to a scheduling oversight by a representative that no longer works with me. I look forward to making these dates up in the fall.
Thank you all for your continued support.
So this is the first time Chris Cornell has ever spoken or written anything, apparently. Man, it must be tough making it through 42 years of life without ever communicating with anyone in any way. Maybe he has telepathic powers, kind of like that chick from "Medium." But if that's the case, then why did he ask Andrew Wood to "say hello to heaven" when he could've just done it himself?
You can catch Chris at any of the following international tour dates. As noted in his message, he'll also be doing more shows in the U.S. soon. Just don't expect him to announce the dates.
