Darryl Hall and John Oates recently announced the launch of the "I Can Go For That" Contest," a competition seeking the best fan-submitted lip-syncing video of any song in their catalog. The winner will receive a trip to see the pair perform at the Hollywood Bowl on September 8.
To hype the contest, Hall spoke with AllHipHop.com today about being embraced as source material in the early days of hip hop:
I have gratitude for De La Soul, because they were the first to sample one of our songs. Whenever my music gets sampled by a hip hop artist, I'm always flattered... Most people don't know that the first format that embraced my music was urban radio. So, having hip hop artists sample me is like coming back home.
More with Hall and on the contest can be found at AllHipHop.com.
Now, let's get to business. Cue the bassline.
