Real Music Ringtones

Shut ‘em down, open up shop. Words of wisdom we can all live by. DMX is truly a sage to be listened to for generations. Probably his biggest hit to date, the Ruff Riders’ Anthem, is also his most popular ringtone.

Today’s hottest ringtone is one the most hilariously named song I’ve heard in a while, and it doesn’t seem like it was done like on purpose. It is, perhaps, the most obvious title I’ve ever heard.

Boyz II Men. What a name. Not only did they change the ‘s’ to a ‘z’, but they took an even more ambitious route by changing ‘to’, not to ‘2’, but to ‘II’. Damn.

Chris Brown has come out on the scene and just taken control over the R&B scene. His music has a general cleanliness too it that makes it friendly for younger audiences. It also has a tendency to strike on issue that teens and tweens are starting to relate to.

Even though it may be a surprise to many, Eye of the Tiger was actually written for the movie Rocky III. It’s strange because so many people equate it with Rocky that they may expect that it was included in the first movie. It’s also weird because it stands alone well enough that you might be lead to think it was a pop song from the 80s that was included in the Rocky III soundtrack after the fact.

What hasn’t been said about Katy Perry and her hit single I Kissed a Girl. I mean, everything from “you haven’t actually kissed a girl…” to “your crazy parents think you’re a slut because of a song you sing about kissing someone of the same gender just once” to “why do you think it’s okay to pretend to have feelings of curiosity just to sell more records?”

Like most people that listen to at least some popular music, I’ve heard, and completely at a loss to understand, the song “gasolina”. I know there are people that say the song is about carnal relations and what have you; but what I’m saying is that, besides the word ‘gasolina’ I can’t understand anything else Daddy Yankee is saying.

Bun B. and Sean Kington are tearing it up in the ringtone space right now. The That’s Gangsta ringtone is number 23 on the charts right now. Not bad. It’s not a bad song and probably would make a really great ringtone. It’s got a pretty heavy catchy baseline that will be great for people that like to chill to hip hop or to go out and dance to it.

It’s amazing how many great songs can leave you scratching your head when you try to think of the composer. If the song doesn’t have lyrics, or come from a band that almost always includes lyrics, you’ll have to go to a true music guru to find out who wrote and performed even the most famous of compositions. Likewise, when I say Lalo Schifrin absolutely nothing will come to mind.

So the other day I was talking about an Ace Hood song that had an old-school Cash Money sound, today I’ve got to bring up Lil Wayne and his song “I’m me” which is actually released by Cash Money. The song still has those important mentions of the amount of money he’s making from rap. And true to the spirit of being obsessed with money, the “I’m Me” ringtone is available for download, and it’s doing quite well on the list of most popular ringtones.
