This one is pretty self explanatory, so enjoy:
10. Toby Keith - Whiskey Girl
Okay, Nine songs about tequila and one about Whiskey. The song might not be about tequila so much as it's about whiskey, but it does mention tequila prominently in the chorus. Funny thing is, this song is bullshit because of what Tobez says. "Ain't enough good burn in tequila," is a funny line because, hey guy, it's not supposed to burn and sometimes it's nice that way. Small dog daddy.
Best line: No Cuervo Gold Margaritas
Just ain't enough good burn in tequila
She needs somethin' with a little more edge and a little more pain
9. Alan Jackson - Tequila Sunrise
So Alan covered the infamous Eagles song to ill-effect. In fact, it's really nothing interesting, as oft covered as it is. But, a little Alan Jackson sort of makes every song better, a point well-proven by "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere."
Best line: Take another shot of courage
Wonder why the right words never come
You just get numb
8. Deana Carter - You and Tequila
This one is a solid analysis of the goods/bads that come with tequila. Yes, you felt like a super human warrior last night and no, you will not make it to work this morning.
Best line: You and tequila make me crazy
You run like poison in my blood
One more night might kill me, baby
One is one too many, and one more is never enough
7.John Anderson - Straight Tequila Night
I love this song because it encourages "you," whoever the singer is talking to, that "getting some" might be possible, as long as "she" doesn't drink tequila. Based on personal experience and laws of nature, this seems odd to me.
Best line: Here's a glass of Chablis, some quarters and change
Maybe you can turn her love life around.
Then she won't need the salt or the lime anymore,
To shoot that old memory down.
6. Jim Reeves - Drinking Tequila
Seriously, I don't really know what's going on with this song. "Heee ha happy tonight" is totally lost on me but I certainly wouldn't mind heading out to El Gusto's place to dance and squirm with the Spanish maidens Reeves is talking about.
Best line: A drinking tequila and teasing the girls
Heeee ha happy tonight the maidens are dancing out in the moonlight
Heee ha on top of the world drinking tequila and teasing the girls
5. Terri Clark - Not Enough Tequila
I love it because it's just true ... y'all.
Best line: Here I sit with a drink in my hand
Local cantina with a sign hanging sayin'
Something in Spanish bout
Let the good times roll
Between the sandy beaches and the margaritas
Thought I'd find a way to let you go
But there's not enough tequila in Mexico
4. Lonestar - Tequila Talkin'
Holding charity bowling competitions is one thing, but calling up your ex-girlfriend drunk on tequila is entirely different. Still, nothing really rules as much as the Lonestar song, "Hey God." I'm just sayin'.
Best line: And that tear in my eye was the salt and the lime
Not the memory of you walking
If I said I'm still in love with you
It was just the tequila talking
3. Glen Campbell - Tequila
I've actually never heard this cover, as it appears to be quite obscure, showing up only on Campbell's Essential, Vol. 3. On the other hand, it is a cover of The Champs' infamous one hit, which has appeared in various versions all over pop culture. So it seems like no big deal that Campbell covered it, right? Wrong, it's a classic because of this pic:
Best line: Tequila
2. Tracy Byrd - Ten Rounds With Jose Cuervo
Confession: This was my ironic "I'm southern" party song sophomore year of college.
Best line: And after nine rounds with Jose Cuervo
They were counting me out and i was about to give in
Then after ten rounds with Jose Cuervo
I lost count and started counting again
1. Joe Nichols - Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off
First of all, for those that are unawares, this cat was one of Anna Nicole Smith's favorite singers. In fact, he performed a set at her funeral, including "Wings of a Dove." Now, the best part about this song is everything about this song. Duh. The only thing better than this song is its video.
Best line: Them panty hose ain't gonna last too long
If the DJ puts bon jovi on
She might come home in a table cloth
Yea tequila makes her clothes fall off
