"Six Degrees of Martina McBride" makes its debut tonight on ABC in a two-hour special where six up-and-coming country singers will take a shot at stardom.

The contestants are supposed to find Martina in only six steps or less and if they do this, they'll get the chance to sign a record deal.

Apparently, the show's producers want to test the six degrees theory, which says that all people are connected by a chain of six people or less.

"It was really interesting. You wonder, ‘Is this gonna work' I mean, really a total stranger from nowhere can figure out in six steps or less how to find me. I don't think I can give away exactly what happened, but it's a fascinating concept and it was a really fun show to do. It just goes to show you it's a very small world definitely," Martina said.

Granted, it might be interesting and fun but perhaps the best way to find a rising country star is to listen to their music and not cast them on a semi-ridiculous reality game show. Just a thought Nashville.

Anyway, the program airs at 9 p.m ET on ABC.
