The soundtrack to the musical that set records on the Disney Channel earlier this week has set some records of its own.
It hit #1 with 615,000 copies sold. Billboard explains its place in history: "Since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991, only three other soundtracks have ever moved more than 615,000 in a week: Eminem's '8 Mile,' 'Titanic' and 'The Bodyguard.'"
The original HSM soundtrack has sold 4.1 million copies to date.
So much for the twenty-something advertising demographic; preteens are where it's at.
By the way, did you know the plot is about them working summer jobs at a country club? "Saved by the Bell" anyone?
